The effect of mycorrhizal inoculation (Glomus mosseae) and phosphate fertilization (0, 50 and 100 kg P/ha) on the yield of tomato, eggplant, bell and hot pepper under the field conditions were investigated. The experiment was carried out on the Menzilat soil series (typic xerofluvent) which is located at the Research Farm, Faculty of Agriculture, University of Cukurova, (Eastern Mediterranean region), Turkey.Mycorrhizal inoculation increased plant yield significantly compared to non-inoculated plants. When no P was applied, the effect of mycorrhizal inoculation on plant yield was higher than with additional P application. Mycorrliizal inoculation also increased plant zinc and phosphorus uptake. These facts show that mycorrhizal inoculation is necessary under field conditions to obtain healthy and well-grown horticultural plants.
