The yield response of Chinese cabbage and capsicum to phosphate fertilizer was studied in a field experiment. The status of residual phosphorus and the total phosphorus content in vegetable were also investigated under different application of phosphate fertilizer. The results showed that the yields of Chinese cabbage and capsicum were increased significantly by applying phosphate fertilizer. The model of Quadratic plateau could express the yield response of Chinese cabbage and capsicum to phosphate fertilizer. The total phosphorus content of Chinese cabbage and capsicum, total phosphorus and Olsen-P in the profile of 0-20 cm soil were increased gradually with the increase of phosphate fertilizer application. Olsen-P was increased in the profile of 20-40 cm by using P 225.0-675.0 kg·hm~(-2). Phosphorus was absorbed luxuriously with excessive application of phosphate fertilizer. The yield of Chinese cabbage was not changed by applying P 450.0, 675.0 kg·hm~(-2) in the soil that had used P 450.0, 675.0 kg·hm~(-2) for two times.
