Small thickness of an organogenic layer and drastic in-depth decreaseof soil erosion resistance cause activation of erosion processes whenland cover is disturbed due to development and operation of HC fieldslocated in the Far North. Usually, these disturbances are associated withconstruction and operation of linear and site facilities (pipelines, roads,buildings, technical sites, villages, mounds, dams, pits, etc.), use oftrack-type equipment and other aboveground vehicles, well drilling andoperation. In order to prevent activation of erosion processes duringdevelopment of gas fields of Yamal Peninsula VNIIGAZ specialistsworked out a methodical basis for quantitative evaluation of soilerosion resistance.
