Field Survey of Cracks Occurred on Aged Concrete-Armored Coastal Dikes

The purpose of this study is to investigate, by means of fieldmeasurement, crack, unevenness, compressive strength and tilt of agedconcrete armored coastal dikes constructed more than 40 years ago. It isrevealed that cracks on the crown armoring of dike are classified intoeight patterns and the probability of crack occurrence on the crownarmoring is about 0.39, which is higher than those of the seaward andlandward slopes armoring of dike. The maximum crack-widening speedper year after construction is about 0.32cm on the crown armoring andabout 0.17cm on the landward slope armoring.
