The cross-correlation analyses between ECMWF atmospheric pressuredata and wave data obtained at 18 Japanese NOWPHAS observationstations for 5 years, ⅰ.e., from 1994 to 1998, were carried out. The mostcritical route of the weather disturbance that affects the wave conditionat each wave observation station was discussed based on the results ofthe seasonal and yearly statistical analyses. As a result, somerelationships between wave conditions (significant wave height andlong period waves) and the weather conditions were clarified at thewave observation stations on the Japan Sea side and the Pacific Oceanside.
