Characteristics of TMCP steels and their welded joints used for hull structures

TMCP steels were developed in Japanese steel makers about 20 yearsago. They are extensively used in ship building industry and arediversifying to other industries such as marine structures, bridges andso on. Reentry European and Korean steel makers produce TMCP steelalso. They have not only great merits but also possible demerits. In thispaper, these merits and demerits are explained in addition to recenttopics in Japan about TMCP steel.
