The number of sulphate-reducing bacteria (SRB) in the culture medium with differentconcentrations of SO4 2- anion were obtained by Most Probable Number (MPN) method. It showed thatSO4 2- anion accelerated the growth of SRB when the concentrations were less than 0.8%. However, SO4 2-anion inhibited the growth of SRB when the concentrations were not less than 0.8%. The corrosionbehaviors of Cr17Ni2 electrode in SRB solution with and without 1.0% SO4 2- were studied by dynamicpotential scanning method. The pitting potential (Eb) of Cr17Ni2 in SRB solution with SO4 2- anionshifted negatively on 0-8day,then positively on 8-10 day. Cr17Ni2 electrode passivated on 2-10 day inSRB solution without 1.0% SO4 2- and on 4-10 day in SRB solution with 1.0% SO4 2-. The passivation zonewas the shortest on the 8 th day in two kinds of SRB solution. And the passivation zone in the solution with1.0% SO4 2- was much longer than that in the solution without 1.0% SO4 2-. It demonstrated that 1.0% SO4 2-could decrease corrosion activity of SRB solution.
