Thermal radiation plays an important role in many plasma processing devices. The experimentalobservation of radiation transfer in arc plasmas is very difficult due to extreme experimentalconditions. In such case, the mathematical modeling is of great importance. Several approximatemetods of accounting for radiative transfer have been developed. Any quantitative study of theradiative transport of energy requires knowledge of the frequency-dependent absorptionproperties. In the present paper a simple method was used to the calculation of photodissociationcross sections of diatomic molecules. The cross sections of O2 and OH molecules have beencalculated, results are compared with the data available in literature.
