In strong group velocity dispersion (GVD) medium, signal waveform will distort owing to different phase velocity with responding to different frequencies. Whereas, limited by causality, strong dispersion is always accompanied by high losses. Because group velocity as a function of frequency of spoof surface plasmon polaritons (SPPs) is rich and easy to be manipulated by the size and geometry, so by engineering the dispersion characteristics of SPPs strong dispersive group velocity and high-efficiency reflectivity will be satisfied at certain band simultaneously, in order to realize high-efficiency real-time reflective waveform modulator.
