摘要

The paper deals with some important aspects to beconsidered while installing metal-oxide arresters(MOA) on high voltage overhead transmission lines. Itgives an insight into some Slovene experiences gainedin the past decade, and assesses the expected long termbehaviour of metal-oxide resistor blocks based onaccellerated ageing test results. Thermal behaviour ofMOA analysed by means of a simplified thermal modelis shown for some combined stresses. Also, the paperdescribes the procedure while optimizing theovervoltage protection by installing MOA on a 110 kVtransmission line in Slovenia.
