Application of an automatic phase unwrapping method for the quantitative extraction of information from high-resolution interferometric and photo-elastic data
Abstract: This paper describes the application of digital Fouriertransform to phase encoded intensity distribution.Attention is drawn to a method of extractingquantitative information automatically from theinterferometric fringe data. To achieve this a set ofcarrier fringes has been added to interferometricfringe data. This has made it possible to form a phasemap using a FFT (Fast Fourier Transform) algorithm. AMinimum Spanning Tree (MST) phase unwrapping strategyhas been used to create a contiguous map of the wholefringe field. Finally, the measurement parameterrelated to the fringe field has been calculated fromone single image. Experimental results are given forthe burner flames, a compressible flow, andphotoelastic fringe data. !16
