This paper proposes a cascaded H-Bridge multilevel inverter using an artificial intelligence technique as genetic algorithm. The optimized firing angles of the inverter are found using the non-linear equations which are used to selectively eliminate the undesirable harmonics. A significant reduction in the Total Harmonic Distortion (THD) was achieved based on Genetic algorithm approach. The multilevel inverter was simulated in MATLAB Simulink and selected odd harmonics up to the order of 15 was eliminated.
