In this study, the effect of hydrogen peroxide addition in the cyanide leaching of gold and silver ores, obtained from Artvin-Cerattepe region, one of the reserves accepted as economically mineable, is investigated. In the experiments, the effects of H_2O_2 concentration and time on Au and Ag recoveries were examined. Increasing H_2O_2 concentration had an increasing effect on Au and Ag recoveries. 97percent of Au and 71percent of Ag were recovered with the addition of 15 g/1 H_2O_2 in the cyanidation that was carried out for 48 hours. As a result of this study, it was proved that addition of H_2O_2 as an oxidant in the cyanide leaching had an increasing effect on the leaching recoveries of Au and Ag and decreasing effect on the leaching period.
