Model Driven System Design: Update from the Trenches

Over the past several years, the Model-Driven System Design (MDSD) Working group hasrnsponsored a series of workshops and panel discussions that motivated the use of model-driven methods throughout the product development process. It has demonstrated the benefits to organizations that have begun to adopt those methods. This has led to increased INCOSE involvement in defining standards for exchange of modeling information among tools, as well as identification of organizational and technical challenges that need to be addressed. This year's panel continues the discussion at the nuts-and-bolts level. The panelists will focus on targeted examples of progress and challenges in establishing ISO and UML standards, as well as in diverse industrial and scientific applications. The objective of this panel is to stimulate participation in developing modeling techniques and approaches that meet system-level needs and translate seamlessly into functional and discipline models. Participation is needed to get a high quality job done.
