Target and background simulation for seeker scenarios

Abstract: As seeker technology improves, the demands on the scenarios presented in a laboratory environment become more stringent. It becomes more necessary to provide representative dynamic backgrounds and targets rather than rely only on computer simulations. For a specific target projector system we are investigating the requirement of several target and background situations to determine how to present the proper output to the system under test. Considerations include a uniform cold (high altitude) background as well as a warmer (low altitude) varying background. Target considerations include high and low altitude, single or multiple engines and other related facets such as exhaust plumes and possible countermeasures.!7
