Abstract: Segmenting of the incident wavefronts at the entrance pupil of an imaging system occurs in systems with segmented windows and in certain configurations of scanning systems that include a polygon as the scanning element. The segmenting of the wavefronts may cause a serious degradation of the MTF of the system. In some cases, the resolution of such systems may be decreased by a factor of two. The degradation of the MTF is calculated for monochromatic and polychromatic light. It is shown how such cases may be simulated using Code-V software. !1
