In the current work, a new gain-scheduled control design approach is applied to aircraft lateral-directional axis control during powered approach phase. Switching linear parameter varying(LPV) with multi-Lyapunov function is employed to aircraft control system for getting a high handling quality. The aircraft model is linearized at different operating points to obtain an LPV open model, whose state-space entries depend on angle of attack which is a time-varying parameter and is able to be measured in real time. The angle of attack varies from 2 degree to 14 degree, and the corresponding airspeed varies from 337 km/h to 233 km/h, respectively. So this gain-scheduled method is propitious to solve the problem for aircraft lateral control. It has been demonstrated that the multi-Lyapunov functions control design scheme is effective of improving closed-loop performance. The simulation results show that the controller performs well compared to the handling quality.
