This paper proposes a parametric decomposition approach for analyzing queuing models of multi-product manufacturing systems operating under pull control. New analytical expressions are derived to account for the effect of batch formation and splitting on queuing delays at different stations in the manufacturing system. These expressions are used to establish a system of non-linear equations that are subsequently solved to estimate key performance measures. The models yield insights with respect to design parameters such as loop length, card counts, and efficient production batch sizes on performance measures such as throughput and work-in-process inventories.
