This paper was the research of 400 kN suspension insulator for ultra high voltage that included alumina of 17 wt% . The slurry was fabricated after ball milling were mixed raw materials. Test results show that the sintering density was reached 97% of theoretical density, and the values of bending strength, hardness, and fracture toughness were 1658 kgf/cm~2, 27.5 Gpa, and 2.3 MPa·m~(1/2), respectively. In the case of pin diameter 51 mm and pin bottom formed multistep and straight in the suspension insulator, the overvoltage break load of 400 kN insulator appeared 52 ton of the highest value.
