This paper proposes a default router selection based on RTT. First we designed a simple mechanism of measuring RTT from Mobile Node to Access Routers in Wireless LANs, which mostly reflects link latency of 802.11. It is essential for Mobile Node in Wireless LAN to have a clue for judging a quality of path to the Access Routers. Based on experiments, sources of RTT and behavior of RTT to the on-link traffic were studied. Result of experiment shows that interarrival jitter in real-time traffic could be kept small when default router selection based on RTT is enabled.
