The design of high-complexity electromagnetic (EM) systems is addressed through the System-by-Design (SbD) methodology. The proposed SbD approach relies on the integration and interconnection of suitable functional blocks for solving the design problem at hand in an effective and computationally-efficient way. Towards this end, a fast surrogate model is exploited to remarkably reduce the overall time cost of the synthesis procedure, guaranteeing an optimal trade-off between accuracy and time saving. An illustrative example is shown to assess the suitability of the SbD for the fast synthesis of a hat-fed parabolic reflector for satellite communications.
