Recognition of distorted patterns by invariance kernels

A method for the recognition of deformed patterns is presented. Itis is shown that for planar deformations generated by Lie transformationgroups, there exist kernels such that the associated integral transformsare invariant under the deformations. Many examples of deformations andthe corresponding kernels are given. It is possible to extend theresults to higher dimensions
