This paper takes advantage of the characteristics theory of the correlation coefficient to develop a practical approach of diagnosis. In the approach, the reference data were taken from the literature of the ANSI/IEEE C57.139 specification. The reference data has been divided into two kinds - coking and arcing. From data of 14 sets, the approach was been verified the accurate degree which was better than The Duval triangle 2 of diagnosis. The advantages of this approach can be graphically shows the sample data and the reference data of gas content comparison chart and the correlation coefficient value. So that it is feasible to diagnose the status of On-Load Tap Changers' operation from its insulating oil. For the sake of the policy of condition based maintenance and reduces of improper maintenance costs are been fulfilled that are major goal of this paper.
