A Roadmap to Quality Improvement Methodology Selection

Quality is key for any organization to survive, compete and move forward in today's increasingly competitive business environment.Carefully planned steps are necessary to ensure the right quality improvement methodology (QIM) is adopted so that products, processes and services offered to their customers and business operations are consistent, reliable and truly meet the customers' needs. The purpose of this paper is to present a quality improvement methodology roadmap for IT-related (BOOTSTRAP, SPICE, CMM/CMM-I, ISO, ITIL, PSP and Six Sigma) and non-IT-related (TQM, TOC, Lean, Six Sigma, Lean-Sigma, ISO) businesses to provide a clearer and easier way of selecting a suitable and applicable methodology that fits an organization's objectives and culture prior to investing much time, money and resources.
