In order to detect post insulator and porcelain bushing with ultrasonic, according to the characteristics of insulator probe, creeping wave detection is recognized to be an effective detection method. However it is found that the probe creeping wave probe produced by using the theory of calculating wafer angle than 3 degrees or mistress degree angle both can produce similar creeping wave display. This paper studies the method of ultrasonic detection of creeping wave method of strut porcelain insulator.
