A Reconfigurable FSS Backed Continuously Tunable CAA Inspired Absorber

The possibility of up gradation of Circuit Analog Absorbers (CAAs) into tunable CAA is explored for the first time. The basic idea of CAA remains unaltered, i.e. placement of a resistive FSS at a distance of λ/4 from a ground plane. But here the conventional ground plane is replaced by a varactor tunable FSS. It has been demonstrated that how continuously tunable absorption band can be achieved by varying the bias voltage of the varactors connected in the bottom plane. The novelty of the proposed design lies in the unique idea of implementation of the tunability feature while keeping the spirit of CAA alive. This tunable CAA is expected to find its application in RCS reduction, radome design, reconfigurable absorber design etc.
