Self-maintained folder hierarchies as document repositories

摘要

This paper presents a novel approach for the management of largencollections of electronic documents. The major technical contribution ofnour approach is the seamless integration of features found in systemsnsuch as file systems, document repositories, directory services,nclassification hierarchies, and email folders into a single folder-basednsystem. The user may specify rules for characterizing interesting ornrelevant document classes. Based on these rules which are checked fornconsistency, folders are not only populated with documents, but foldersnthemselves are created and deleted based on the occurrence of values inndocuments
