Federation services for heterogeneous digital libraries accessingcooperative and non-cooperative sources

Today, bibliographical information is kept in a variety of digitalnlibraries available on the Internet. The integration of bibliographicalndata is considered as one of the most important tasks in the area ofndigital library community. The available sources of data vary widely innterms of data representation and access interfaces. To overcome thisnheterogeneity during the last years attempts were made to apply methodsndeveloped for information system integration. We describe our approachnof a federation service for digital libraries using the loosely couplednfederated system FRAQL that offers a variety of conflict resolutionnmechanisms. Furthermore, we present different kinds of adapters fornaccessing cooperative and noncooperative sources of bibliographicalninformation. In order to integrate systems with limited queryncapabilities we introduce concepts for source descriptions
