The paper presents the results of the examination by optical spectroscopy and electron microscopy methods of the process of reduction of Agl nanoparticles ranging in size from 5-10 to 50-100 nm in colloidal solutions and in model layers with sodium borohydride or organic reductants known as constituents of conventional developing solutions. The mechanism of the process of Agl reduction and morphology of the final reduction product were shown to be largely governed by the chemical activity of the reductant used and by Agl particle size.
