BUSINESS COLOR~(TM) At 3000 Pages per Minute

Scitex Digital Printing has introduced the VersaMark~(TM) Business Color Press~(TM), the world's first true production volume digital color printing system. The high speed of 3000 pages per minute, coupled with the low cost, often below one cent per page, is bringing process color printing to applications previously served by monochrome variable printing. To enable optimal color printing of this new inkjet-based technology on a wide range of substrates, Scitex has developed a set of color management tools designed for the user who has little or no color science background. These include Path2Paper~(TM), a guide to select the best paper for the application, and Business Color Toolkit, which provides test patterns for selecting text and color linearizations that optimize inking levels for a given substrate, specific artifact resolution steps based on observable examples, and software to generate color curve LUT's to better approximate the desired gamut. An on-press utility program also permits image adjustments after RIP'ing. Both hard and soft proofing is available that can accurately simulate the BCP on a low cost inkjet printer.
