摘要

The application of Artificial Neural Network (ANN) in the field of motor protection is presented in this paper. Benefiting from the pattern recognition ability of ANN and the real-time performance of Digital Signal Processor (DSP), the appearance of the line fault, especially the short circuited fault can be predicted early enough before the faulty current is developed. Obviously, this method will improve the protection feature of motors. The simulated results showed that this method was feasible and effective. It can be referred in the other situation when the prediction and diagnosis of a fault is necessary.
