Deploying e-commerce enabling technology using an advisory system

摘要

This paper discusses the development of the Electronic Commerce Implementation Advisor (eCIA), a prototype expert system to facilitate the implementation of E-Commerce in various business enterprises. The need for such a system stems from the emerging trend of E-Commerce in today's world of business. More and more businesses are seekign for E-Commerce solutions to stay technologically update and remain competitive. The adoption of a consulting expert system to determine the E-Commerce needs in a company is thus desireable. The development of eCIA is based on a framework which is also highlighted in this paper. The framework is used to analyse the business nature and is aimed to satisfy the expected objectives of the business. The framework includes seven major aspects which serve as the basis for identifying the enabling E-Commerce solutions. Last but not least, the paper presents some case examples to illustrates the usefulness of the framework.
