Fibre reinforced polymer materials allow for the integration of structural, building physics and architectural functions in individual building components. The load-carrying structure can be merged with the facade into a single-layer building envelope. The development of this new envelope concept is described herein by means of two projects - the Eyecatcher Building and the Dock Tower project, both situated in Basel, Switzerland.
