NEW POLICY DIRECTIONS IN DOE TRANSPORTATION PROGRAMS: THE SENIOR EXECUTIVE TRANSPORTATION FORUM

The Senior Executive Transportation Forum was established by former Energy SecretaryrnPe?a in January 1998 to coordinate the efforts of Departmental elements involved in therntransportation of radioactive materials and waste. The forum is made up of senior managers andrnexecutives from the Offices of Environmental Management; Defense Programs; CivilianrnRadioactive Waste Management; Nuclear Energy; Naval Reactors; Environment, Safety, andrnHealth; Field Management; Congressional and Intergovernmental Affairs; Public Affairs; Nonproliferationrnand National Security; Energy Research; and Fissile Materials Disposition. ThernDepartment of Energy s (DOE) field offices are represented by the Albuquerque OperationsrnOffice.rnLeadership for the Forum is a rotating chair which is currently provided by EnvironmentalrnManagement. The approach to business of the Forum is formal consensus-building and decisionmaking.rnThe Director of the Office of Transportation and Emergency Management serves as thernpermanent Secretariat.
