For an efficient power transmission andrndistribution with high reliability it is imperative thatrnthe used high voltage equipment such as transformersrnoperate confidently at their maximum load withoutrnsustaining any malfunctions. For this purpose arndiagnostic of the components is very important. Todayrnthe partial discharge (PD) measurement is a veryrnimportant tool for the diagnosis and determination ofrnthe insulation condition of transformers. In thisrncontribution some aspects of PD measurements onrntransformers are presented with a special focus on thernproblems arising under noisy conditions, which arerntypical for measurements on-site. A new PDrnmonitoring system is introduced enabling not only therndetection of the discharges but also the localization ofrnthe PD-origin.
