This paper described a monitoring andrnanalysis system for external vibration accelerationrnsignals of high voltage circuit breaker. During thernoperation of circuit breaker, a series of impulsernvibration appears on its enclose, which corresponds tornthe impacts or motion changes on circuit breaker’srnconstituent parts. The amplitude and the shape ofrnvibration response is depending upon the type ofrncircuit breaker and the accelerometers location. Thisrnpaper analyzed the time and frequency responserncharacteristic of vibration signals and revealed thernrelationship between the external vibration and the thernimpacts or motion changes on breaker’s constituentrnparts. Through the use of data processing techniques,rnthe conditions of the circuit breaker determinedrnquantitatively. This detection method suitedrnapplication in field for on-line monitoring of highrnvoltage circuit breaker, the successful application ofrnsuch monitoring and diagnostics method would lead tornextension of the intervals for inspection andrnmaintenance.
