On the Information-Theoretic Capacity of the Magnetic Recording Channel

In this lecture, recent advances in the computation of the information-theoretic capacity of magnetic recording channels are reviewed. Capacity estimates are compared to densities achieved using advanced coding and detection methods. Extensions to more re
