Experience and Lessons learnt from Renewable Energy System Applicationin China Rural Electrification

There are variety of alternatives for rural electrification, such as grid extension, micro hydro, diesel generator, windrnpower, solar power and their hybrids. Technically, all of these technologies have been proved successfully in ruralrnelectrification. But economical performance and financial sustainable operation is far away from successfully proved. Manyrnfactors contrbute their impact on RE system performacne. This paper will briefly review these RE solutions, their pros andrncons and the boundary conditions in their application. The barriers of RERE and lessons learnt will also be summarized.
