Semi-Offshore Wind Park Experience in Japan

Present paper introduces semi-offshore wind park in Japan. Two semi-offshore wind parksrnat Sakata port in Yamagata prefecture and Setana port in Hokkaido are reported. As tornoffshore wind power, the scale and the number of turbines are small and few in Japan yet.rnOnly these two cases are semi-offshore wind power station in Japan. The case at Sakatarnport is a wind power station with the largest scale in Japan. This has 5 offshore windrnturbines with 2MW. On the other hand, the case at Setana port is the first offshore windrnturbine in Japan, although the scale of plant is relatively smaller (600kW*2) than Sakata. Inrnaddition to that, Setana town plans to cooperate an offshore wind power station with coastalrnfishery. Setana town’s plan is cooperation between offshore wind power station for tourismrnand new coastal fishery to produce and bring up. It is very unique and effective not only forrnuse of offshore wind power in Japan in the near future but also as a method for cultivationrnfishing. Because fishery compensation is one of the most severe problem to constructrnoffshore wind park. This paper describes and explains the details.
