Development of lightweight, water-retentive concrete block

摘要

With excellent water-retention and absorption properties, a new lightweight concrete block wasrndeveloped that can be installed on the roofs of existing buildings. The lightweight blocks showedrnsuperior water retention and smaller temperature rises under simulated solar radiation, as comparedrnwith a standard paving block, a commercially available water-retentive block, and a high-gradernasphalt concrete block. If existing structures are covered with this type of lightweight block, itrnshould both reduce the air temperature around the building, and cool the building interior.
