In spite of development of mobile cranes the hoisting masts may be preferred by some advantagesrnas cheep service properties (especially in conditions of serial mounting of a number of erectionrnunits with remarkable time intervals), simple fabrication, absence of complicated capriciousrnassemblies, simple service technology. These advantages are especially remarkable by serialrnmounting of very heavy and high-rise objects at the long intervals. The hoist masts of great carryingrncapacity are usually used by twos, in most cases they have a square-formed lattice cross sectionrnwith four chords and triangle bracing. Typical for hoist masts is eccentric application of greatrnvertical and horizontal loads close to the mast top. Regulation of pre-stress forces of stay cablesrnappears to be of great importance. Thorough investigations have been carried out at TUT forrndetermination of optimal dimensions of the masts structure and pre-stressing forces for stay cables.
