Comparison between a detailed model and two simplified models in urban stormwater quality simulation

This study proposes a comparison between three models able to simulate stormwater qualityrncharacteristics: the SWMM (Storm Water Management Model), the UPSIM (Urban PollutionrnSIMulator) and the COSMOSS (Conceptual Simplified Model for Sewer System Simulation).rnThey are representative of different degrees of simplification. The models have beenrncalibrated and validated using experimental data acquired in two Italian catchments: Parcornd'Orleans, in Palermo and Fossolo, in Bologna and Milijakovac catchment in Belgradern(Yugoslavia). Comparisons have been made among the hydrographs and pollutographsrnobtained using the models and the measured ones. The results of this comparison, the limitsrnand potentialities of the three models, especially regarding their calibration, have beenrnoutlined and discussed.
