摘要

Water resources development and management plans should aim at sustaining the resources as well as the environment and the humans. Sustainability of the resources, on the other hand, is not only concerning quantities, but also quality. In this respect, remote sensing (RS) and geographic information system (GIS) can be considered the most update technological power tools can assist in analysis of water resources for water development projects and watershed management. Various applications have been made with the help of RS and GIS, with respect to development and management of water resources in Egypt. The most important applications include: 1. production of hydrogeological maps and groundwater vulnerability to pollution maps; 2. coupling of GIS and groundwater models; 3. support design for the water monitoring system through production specific maps for optimum design of monitoring systems. In this paper example is provided on how Coupling of GIS and groundwater models technology can be used in Egypt
