This paper examines the applicability of deep mixing technique, in which soil in situ is mixedrnmechanically with cement, in improving engineering characteristics of in-situ soft soils in southern Vietnam. Arnseries of laboratory tests and full scale Dry Jet Mixing (DJM) Method based field applications performed at severalrnlocations in southern Vietnam have confirmed drastic enhancement in strength, modulus and permeabilityrncharacteristics of the treated soils. The results have demonstrated practical applicability of the deep mixing methodrnin improving soft soils in southern Vietnam.
