Based on the results of pull-out tests on geotextiles, a 3-staged model for shear stress-displacement relation is presented to study the nonlinear mechanical behavior of the interface between geotextiles and soil. In this model, the relationship between shear stress-displacement on interface is hyperbolic before peak value of shear stress, and then the stress linearly soften to the residual value. According to the force analysis on reinforcement, nonlinear differential equations are expressed in non-dimensional form and solved numerically by a finite difference method. Applications of the interface model are presented to interpret the results of pullout tests. Numerical analysis shows that the predictions by this method are close to the experimental data.
