摘要

Soil water characteristic curves (SWCCs) relate matric suction and water content in unsaturated soils. SWCCs exhibit hysteresis during drying and wetting cycles and the behavior is path dependent. An elastoplastic model is developed using the bounding surface plasticity theory to predict the SWCCs including the hysteresis. The SWCCs predicted for a fine Ottawa sand are compared with measured results and good comparisons are achieved.
