The results of static and high strain dynamic axial load testing of prestressed high strength concrete (PHC) pipe piles in free trade of Zhuhai are presented. The total bearing capacity of test piles by high strain dynamic testing is approximately equal to that by static testing. The Q-s curves simulated by high strain dynamic testing are in agreement with those by static testing when load is smaller, but the settlement of pile calculated by high strain dynamic testing is lower than that by static testing when load gets larger. Distribution of the lateral friction resistance by dynamic testing reflects the distribution of the soil basically. The lateral friction resistance by dynamic testing is consistent with that by static testing at the depth of 0-30 m at the general tendency, but is much larger than that by static testing when the length of the pile exceeds 30m. The capacity result with dynamic testing can only be as a reference to the capacity of the pile. The reasons of the differences between dynamic and static testing are discussed.
