In this paper, the experiences and the results of underground fresh water resources investigation was elaborated through practice example with the comprehensive geophysical survey method in the northwest arid area of China. Firstly, the working mission should be made clearly and hydro-geological conditions be understood; Secondly, it is important to grasp the geophysics method characteristic; Thirdly, the principles should be persisted, namely, from known area extend to unknown area, from part to entire area, test work first and apply geophysics methods to the unknown area latter; Lastly, combining the new technique, new method together with traditional methods. In this foundation, the geophysics methods working pattern for investigate fresh groundwater resources has been established. At the same time, the application effect of the working pattern been presented: the fresh groundwater target areas were decided and fresh groundwater resources had been found in our research area.
