The study investigates possible effects of stress path on a series ofrnconsolidated-drained triaxial compression and extension tests. Test reaults ofrnunreinforced and reinforced residual soil simulating the different loading path similarrnto what is expected in the field. The testing program concentrated on the study ofrnnormally consolidated on 100 mm diameter and 200 mm high specimens. Testingrnwas carried out at consolidating pressures ranging between 0.10-0.60 MPa usingrnGDS computer control triaxial apparatus. The Cam-Clay model parameters forrnunreinforced and reinforced residual soil were determined based on isotropicallyrnconsolidation and drained shear test results. Computations were performed using thernmodel constant and finite element software SIGMA/W to predict the stress-strainrnresponse for different consolidation pressure and stress path tests. Predicted resultsrnwere compared with measured response to assess the validity of the modelrnparameters. The model prediction was found to yield acceptable results and is quiterneffective in demonstrating the effects of stress paths, effective stresses and strains ofrnreinforced soil composites.
