We have cloned and sequenced a gene (Mn-Sod) encoding manganese superoxide dismutase from Ganoderma microsporum. The deduced mature manganese-superoxide dismutase has 200 amino acids without putative mitochondrial-targeting signal peptide. The deduced amino-acid sequence includes conserved residues required for enzymatic activity and metal binding, and shares significant similarity with Mn-containing superoxide dismutase. Amino acid sequence analysis shows that the G. microsporum MnSOD is closely related to Mn-SODs from Paxillax involutus. And genomic DNA sequence analysis revealed a 744-bp partial ORF containing three introns with fungal consensus splice-site junctions.
